The Columbia Valley turns 42 on Sunday. Its biggest grape gets the weekend.
Friday, Dec 11 to Sunday, Dec 13 · 12 to 5 PM · 77 Stage Road, Leavenworth, WA
On December 13, 1984, the federal government made the Columbia Valley an official wine region. About 99% of Washington's vineyards sit inside its borders, so its name shows up on a lot of labels, ours included.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the valley's biggest grape. It has been Washington's most produced grape since 2013.
Gary's 2023 is all Cabernet, from one Columbia Valley vineyard, aged 18 months in American oak. It's bold and built to last, and it's drinking well right now, which young Cabernet doesn't always do.
What's pouring
2023 Silvara Cabernet Sauvignon. Huckleberry, rose and pipe tobacco on the nose. Blackcurrant, plum and a lift of orange zest when you sip.
How it works
- A $5 pour of our 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, one per person
- Take a bottle home and your $5 comes off the price
- Want more? The full tasting lineup is pouring all weekend
- Grab a seat by the fireplace inside or a fire pit outside
Something to tell your friends
Cabernet Sauvignon has a white grape for a parent. Sometime around the 1600s, a Cabernet Franc vine and a Sauvignon Blanc vine crossed on their own in a French vineyard. Nobody knew until 1997, when a lab at UC Davis proved it with DNA.
